Last tuesday night brought me to Restaurant Bouley for a Bordeaux wine dinner. Ten of us sat down to enjoy a fabulous meal, and a series of wines from 1985 that were spectacular :

Cheval Blanc, La Conseillante, Evangile, Haut Brion, La Mission Haut Brion, Leoville Las Cases, Leoville Barton, Lynch Bages, Pichon Lalande, Palmer, Margaux, Latour, Lafite Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild. And to follow up, Fonseca and Graham’s.

The wines – apart from the Lafite and Latour – were drinking nicely. The Lynch Bages was absolutely glorious, as were the Palmer and Haut Brion. (Indeed, tasting the Lynch brought me back to my first memory of this bottle, in 1989. Awesome !) The food, too, was suitably excellent. Truly a hedonistic feast.
