About

PumpkinPickingThis is a work in progress. I am in the process of moving photographs and postings from the old server to this new one, but no doubt that will take quite a while. Stay posted for updates…
This website is basically a diary of our lives. There are five of us – Jenn, Brian, Orla, Eoghan and Conall, not to mention the three dogs – a Shih-Tzu, an English Bulldog and an English Mastiff, called Puff-Puff, Henry and Laoise (but sometimes referred to, informally, as Small, Medium and Large). We’re also intermittently host to a veritable menagerie of cats, rabbits, ponies, frogs, lizards, fish and various rodents.
We live close to Rhinebeck, New York, about 100 miles north of New York City. Rhinebeck and the neighboring towns are home to a number of old mansions and parks, including the former homes of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Cornelius Vanderbilt and Samuel Morse. The area is also home to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome – which features one of the largest collections of First World War aircraft in the country – as well as wonderful restaurants, ski resorts, bike trails and riding stables.
This website has been in existence for ten years, in various incarnations. Most recently it was supported by Movable Type and hosted by ADTHosting.com. It turns out the latter didn’t perform backups; however, thanks to Google and especially¬† the Wayback Machine and Exalead, I was able to recover almost all of the old posts.

Now the site is published in glorious WordPress and hosted by A Small Orange.
